The cafe
Ambiance: this cafe is very dog friendly, so get ready for a cute pup to stare at you while you wait for your fresh cold brew.
Staff: A large team keeps this quaint cafe running smoothly but they'll remember your name and order after the 50th visit.
The croissant
Sourced from Bien Cuit, this Blue Bottle's croissants have a little extra crisp as they're cooked "well done" and you'll mumble "well done" after each bite.
My recommendation
This is certainly the cool-kids cafe. So of course that's where I feel least at home, yet I still stop by a few times a week. I strongly recommend keeping your vacuum nearby as this croissant will make a mess.
The cafe
Ambiance: a heavy door with a small knob that's well worth the effort because once you're inside you feel at home.
Staff: Extremely friendly and knowledgeable, will say au revoir instead of goodbye.
The croissant
Extreme levels of fluff and crunch with even more extreme levels of flavor, sure to make a mess but you won't mind.
My recommendation
Chose the everything croissant only if you want your life to be complete.
The cafe
Ambiance: big windows, chalkboard menus, and wooden tables
Staff: Equal parts friendly and down to business
The croissant
A little on the chewy side and not too messy. A perfect pairing for the cold brew.
My recommendation
Find your closest morning-person friend and head over around 8am on a weekday to get the window table. The croissant is guaranteed to taste better if you talk about art and culture.
The cafe
Ambiance: mariachi bands at 7am, marble table tops, perfect for people (and dog) watching
Staff: White aprons and dirty sneakers, extremely friendly and forgiving of my limited Spanish
The croissant
More fluff than a cloud, extraordinarily delicious, extra messy
My recommendation
When you find yourself jet lagged in Mexico City, use your limited Spanish to accidentally order to-go when you meant for-stay.
